Maybe the original glue is still available. I reglued the strips (which partially had fallen off and partially had been removed when swapping one door and repainting another one) with double-sided adhesive tape. It is available from time to time from german supermarket chains. Originally it is manufactured by 3M. Specialists for car body work use a stuff called "Karosserieklebeband" in german (adhesive tapes for car bodies), but this tape is much more expensive than the 3M stuff. Do not use any cheap no-name stuff, I made very bad experience with self-adhesive chrome trim until I finally used stuff with genuine 3M tape.
There are probably residues of the old glue on your strips. Scrape them off as far as possible. Attach the adhesive tape and cut it to proper width (the stuff I mentioned was available in 19mm only). It is VERY important to remove any residues of grease, fingerprints etc from both the strips and the car surface. You can use paint thinner, acetone or similar (but do not rub too thoroughly on your new paint). Make sure to use the adhesive tape at +15 deg C minimum.
